Monday, January 13, 2025: Due to a glitch in Libby/Overdrive, materials that are no longer available to borrow are still showing up as reserves on some patron accounts.
Many eBooks and audiobooks in our Libby/Overdrive collection are only available for set durations (e.g. 24 months) or number of circulations (e.g. 26 checkouts) and then effectively expire - and are no longer borrowable - unless purchased again by the library. Unfortunately, we are not always able to repurchase those items.
Some holds that were placed on items while they used to be available to borrow (but are now no longer in our collection) are still showing as active holds on some patron records (even though we no longer offer that specific eBook or audiobook).
In an effort to clean up our Libby/Overdrive database - and have accurate hold listings in our patron records - the library will remove these "ghost" holds on Monday, January 27. This will not affect active holds on items we do still have as part of our Libby/Overdrive collection.
