Published in 1950, it is considered a first-rate novel of the latter golden age, written with style, pace and wit. When workday begins at the legal firm of Horniman, Birley and Craine, the large deed box is opened and reveals a corpse. It is the body of Mr. Smallbone. Inspector Hazlrigg sets out to solve the mystery - who was Smallbone, and why did he die?

Come in, get cozy and enjoy a group discussion of books of mystery and suspense by famous and lesser known authors from the Golden Age of Mysteries. Meetings will be held every other month, usually on the 4th Wednesday of that month. We have been holding Hybrid meetings; you can join in-person or via zoom
